Jean-Luc Bernet has qualified mainly in political science, foreign languages, economics and sociology, and finally in social work by acquiring a professional diploma in this field. He ran a training centre for social workers and provided training in these professions for twenty years.
Since retiring, he has been involved with the Cercle Zététique du Languedoc-Roussillon, a skeptical organisation founded in 1996, and has been its secretary since 2005.
